“Parish” is a new term in our presbytery, but it describes the reality that we are members of the Body of Christ. Twelve parishes of neighboring congregations have been identified to help fulfill the task of “assisting and supporting the witness of congregations to the sovereign activity of God in the world, so that all congregations become communities of faith, hope, love, and witness” (Book of Order G-3.0301).
Presbyterians in Morgan County are companions with Roseville, New Lexington, Mount Perry, and Duncan Falls PC’s in the Morgan/Perry parish. When any of us celebrates or suffers, we all rejoice or hurt. We are called to know, encourage, comfort, and support each other. In our “neck of the woods,” we are “the presbytery” for each other!
Pastor Barbara is the Morgan/Perry “parish elder,” a liaison between these congregations and the wider presbytery. She is also the convener of the twelve parish elders of the presbytery who plan to meet about quarterly.
